We welcome nominations for the Holberg Prize and the Nils Klim Prize by 15 June. Both prizes are awarded annually for outstanding contributions to research in the humanities, social sciences, law and theology.
The Holberg Prize
The Holberg Prize is awarded annually to a scholar who has made outstanding contributions to research in the humanities, social sciences, law or theology. The Prize may be awarded both for work within a particular academic discipline and for work of a cross-disciplinary nature. The recipient must have had a decisive influence on international research.
The Prize is worth NOK 6,000,000.

The Nils Klim Prize
The Nils Klim Prize is awarded annually to a scholar under the age of 40, for outstanding contributions to research in the humanities, social sciences, law or theology. The candidate must be a citizen of a Nordic country or be formally affiliated with a Nordic research institution.
The Prize is worth NOK 500,000.

The selection process
After the 15 June nomination deadline, all candidates will be assessed by the Holberg Committee or the Nils Klim Committee. The Holberg Board awards the Prizes by recommendation of the academic committees.
The laureates will be announced in March 2025, and the award ceremony will take place during the Holberg Week in Bergen in early June.
