Keynote address by the 2017 Nils Klim Laureate Katrine Vellesen Løken, Professor of Economics, University of Bergen, followed by guest lectures.
In many OECD countries incarceration rates have risen dramatically, making a discussion of possible consequences of incarceration of great current interest. Katrine Vellesen Løken will give a lecture on post-incarceration outcomes for ex-convicts in Norway. Do they return to a life of crime or do they successfully re-enter the labor market?
Løken’s lecture is followed by guest lectures by associate Professor Manudeep Bhuller (University of Oslo) on the consequences of incarceration for spouses, siblings and children, and Professor Giovanni Mastrobuoni (Collegio Carlo Alberto, Turin) on evidence from other countries.
Professor Linda Grøning (University of Bergen) will act as moderator.
