Holberg Laureate Achille Mbembe's Acceptance Speech is published here in full.

Today, Norwegian Minister of Research and Higher Education Oddmund Hoel conferred the Holberg Prize upon Achille Mbembe and the Nils Klim Prize upon Siddharth Sareen.

Today, it was announced that the 2024 Holberg Prize is awarded to Cameroonian political theorist Achille Mbembe. The Nils Klim Prize is awarded to environmental social scientist Siddharth Sareen.

We welcome nominations for the 2025 Holberg Prize and the 2025 Nils Klim Prize, awarded annually for outstanding contributions to research in the humanities, social sciences, law and theology. The nomination deadline is 15 June.

The Holberg Prize’s two Academic Committees convened this month in Copenhagen and Barcelona, respectively, where successful events were also held.
